Carp-In-4-Cancer 2011, 42 teams of 2 anglers per team and 15 marshals descended on Watermark fisheries Bradleys Lake.
The event surpassed all expectations if the fishing did not. The horrendous weather and reluctant carp did not deter the anglers as they once again entered into the true spirit of the event.
The final results were.
1st, Team F.L.E. Graham Mabey & Tom Oliver with 117.09lbs
2nd Team Carp Fever, Gareth Kenyon & Mike Morby with 29.0lbs
3rd The T-Birds. Russ Burlington & Max Lemmon with 28.07lbs
4th The Air Force, Paul Whalley & David Crouch with 25.10lbs
Graham Mabey landed the biggest fish at 18.04lbs which won him the Joe Herrington Memorial Trophy
The total weight caught for the competition was 232.0lbs. 16 fish caught over 6 teams.
The fishing was hard and the carp shy.
Once the teams had packed up we gathered for the prize giving, raffle and auction.
This year’s event managed to raise a staggering £11800.
Bringing the Carp In 4 Cancer events total to just under £30000 over 5 events, fantastic for a bunch of smelly carpers.
The anglers dug deep for the raffle tickets, nearly £2000 and dug deeper for the auction.
